JOB CREATION

Jobs are created for out-of-school young people without formal jobs through Educational Theatre going on road shows to schools.

Through Eco-Tourism activities, Cabarets are performed by local actors (the Kambro Diggers) from a township near Oudtshoorn. Jobs are created through theatre – and it also contributes to responsible tourism practices.

Journey to Kannaland is a musical journey through time to understand Oudtshoorn & Kannaland better…
A brand-new and popular show for national and international tourists is the Cabaret: Velskoen Journeys which debuted at this years Klein Karoo National Arts Festival
This is Community Theatre at its best!

The Journey-enable is a celebration of the beat and potential of local people who worked extremely hard to offer a professional standard in entertainment to their audiences
Journey to Kannaland is a story told by slaves, kitchen workers, road builders and ostrich farm workers… A story of ordinary people with extraordinary contributions… The cabaret was presented at the 2008-Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, and is also presented in Oudtshoorn during the year as a tourism attraction – at the African Sky Hotel in Baron von Reedestreet, Oudtshoorn.

2010 FOOTBALL AND PERFORMING ARTS HOLIDAY PROGRAMMES

Karos & Kambro has partnered with GTZ (German Technical Cooperation) – an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development, and is working hand in hand with their YDF (Youth Development through Football) entity.

During the 2010 Fifa World Cup Karos & Kambro and GTZ ran Holiday Programmes for the projects in Mamelodi, Winterveld and Hillbrow. The projects with YDF combined soccer, the power of theatre and positive life and leadership skills.

These integrated creative methods through the performing arts, consisted of workshops in music-, dance and movement development, storytelling and story writing, improvisational and team building activities.
The children who participated in the Holiday Programmes are still full of the inspiration and skills they have achieved during this time.
